Surface lubrication should coat the surface of all the steel wire strands uniformly with a thin layer of rust-resistant and lubricating red oil, with black oil having increased abrasion resistance and water resistance for friction hoisting and mines with large amounts of water; other uses should have a strong film-forming property and good rust prevention properties with red oil, and the oil layer should be thin for easy cleaning during operation.
2. Coating: There are coatings such as zinc, aluminum, nylon, or plastic. Steel wire ropes with zinc coating are divided into thin coatings applied before drawing and thick coatings applied after drawing, with the mechanical properties of the thick coating being lower than those of the plain steel wire rope and suitable for use in severely corrosive environments. Steel wire ropes with aluminum coating are more resistant to corrosion, wear, and heat than those with zinc coating and are mainly used in fishing net vessels and mines with H2S, using the method of coating before drawing. Steel wire ropes coated with nylon or plastic are divided into coated wire and coated strands combined into a rope.
