How To Install Electric Hoist?

Released on Nov. 11, 2024

An electric hoist consists of an electric motor, a transmission mechanism, and a drum or chain wheel. There are two types: wire rope electric hoists and chain electric hoists. They are usually driven by a squirrel-cage induction motor with a built-in brake or a cylindrical induction motor with an additional electromagnetic brake, with a lifting capacity ranging from 0.25 to 80 tons and a lifting height of 3 to 50 meters. Most electric hoists are operated by a person using a button on the ground that follows the hoist, or by a driver in the cab or by wire (wireless) remote control. Electric hoists can be used alone or can be combined with manual, chain-driven, or electric trolleys and hung from the ceiling or the beams of a crane. Hand-operated hoists and hand-operated lever hoists are called manual hoists and are used to lift heavy objects by human effort.

An electric hoist is a light and small-sized lifting device with a wide range of applications. Its features include small size, lightweight, and large load-bearing capacity, and it is often installed on electric single-beam and bridge cranes to lift and move items. There are several types of electric hoists, including wire rope electric hoists, chain electric hoists, micro electric hoists, and explosion-proof electric hoists.

Use and Maintenance

1. Before using a new electric hoist or one that has been disassembled and reassembled, it should be run through several rounds of empty trials. However, before the installation is complete, it is strictly forbidden to turn it on for a test run.

2. Before being put into normal use, it should undergo a static load test for 10 minutes at a load of 125% of the rated load, lifted about 100mm off the ground. After the test, check to see if everything is normal.

3. The dynamic load test involves repeatedly lifting and moving the load up and down at the rated load. After the test, check to see if the mechanical transmission parts, electrical parts, and connecting parts are functioning normally and reliably.

4. It is strictly forbidden to use the hoist in conditions that are not allowed or at loads exceeding the rated load and at a rate of more than 120 times per hour.

5. During installation, adjustment, and maintenance, it must be strictly checked to see if the limit switches are flexible and reliable. When the hook is raised to the upper limit position, the distance between the hook shell and the drum shell must be more than 50mm (120mm for 10t, 16t, and 20t). When the hook is lowered to the lower limit position, the drum must have at least two complete and safe safety loops.

6. It is not allowed to press down on two hand buttons that make the hoist move in opposite directions at the same time.

7. After completing work, the power supply circuit breaker must be switched off to cut off the power supply.

8. The hoist should be operated by a designated person who fully understands the safe operating procedures. It is strictly forbidden to hoist loads at an angle.

9. Regular inspections must be conducted by specialized personnel during use to detect and address any problems promptly. Detailed records should be kept.

10. When adjusting the brake's downward slippage, it should be ensured that the downward slippage S is no greater than V/100 (V is the distance that the load is lifted steadily for one minute under the load).

11. The hoist must be kept well-lubricated during use and the lubricant should be clean. It should not contain impurities or dirt.

12. A hard brush or small piece of wood should be used when oiling the steel wire rope. It is strictly forbidden to oil the steel wire rope directly by hand.

13. When the electric hoist is not working, the heavy objects are not allowed to hang in the air to prevent permanent deformation of the parts.

14. In the process of use, if a fault is found, the main power supply should be cut off immediately.

Safety Precautions

In addition to following the operating instructions, please also note the following:

1. Please memorize the contents of the operating instructions and the nameplate before operating.

2. Adjust the upper and lower limit stop blocks before lifting objects.

3. Please confirm the reliability of the brake before using the electric hoist.

4. Do not lift objects that exceed the rated load capacity, the rated load capacity is marked on the hook of the lifting hook.

5. It is strictly prohibited to ride on lifted objects. Do not use the electric hoist as an elevator hoist to carry people.

6. No one should be below the lifted object.

7. Do not lift objects or hooks while swinging.

8. Move the hoist to the center of the lifted object and lift it straight up. Do not tilt it.

9. The limit switch is not allowed to be used repeatedly as a travel switch.

10. Do not lift objects connected to the ground.

11. Do not over-click the operation of the explosion-proof electric hoist.

12. Do not pull other objects with the hand-held control line.

13. Always disconnect the power before maintenance and inspection.

14. All maintenance and inspection work must be performed in the empty state.
